Discover Singapore’s Flavours: Chinatown Food & Culture Tour

Ready to makan like a local? Embark on a mouthwatering journey through Singapore’s iconic Chinatown on this morning food and culture tour—perfect for first-time visitors and food lovers seeking authentic local eats.

Led by an experienced, wheelchair-accessible guide, this 2-hour sensory adventure explores the vibrant flavours, stories and sights that define Singapore’s street food culture.

Your journey begins at Maxwell Food Centre, one of Singapore’s best-known hawker centres. Kick off with a classic breakfast pairing—kaya toast with kopi or teh—and learn how to order it like a true local. Want your coffee thick and strong? Try “kopi gao!” Along the way, discover Singlish, Singapore’s distinctive blend of English with influences from Chinese dialects, Malay, Tamil and more.

Continue along Smith Street, snap photos of colourful murals and discover stories behind local heritage, traditional dress and Chinatown’s historic shophouses.

Pass the original Hawker Chan stall and explore the bustling Trengganu and Pagoda Streets. Depending on the season, you may also encounter tropical fruits, roasted chestnuts or even Singapore’s famous king of fruits—durian.

You’ll also visit Sri Mariamman Temple, Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple, before ending on a sweet note with a traditional egg tart or pandan chiffon cake from a local bakery.

Your guide will bring you back to Maxwell MRT and point out recommended nearby lunch options, so you can continue your food adventure independently.

This tour is not just about eating—it is about connecting with Singapore through its food, language, neighbourhoods and people. Come hungry, come curious!
