When we first set out to design this learning journey, our goal was simple: to demystify sustainability. We wanted to show that sustainability isn’t some abstract, faraway concept—it’s something that lives in our neighborhoods, our routines, and even in the coffee we drink. This experience was built on curiosity: the idea that anyone can start learning about sustainability just by asking questions and paying attention. What moved us most along the way was the generosity and openness of our community partners—especially the local cafés and vendors—who welcomed us, shared their stories, and reminded us that building a greener future is something we do together.
Learning Journey Synopsis
Explore how Singapore’s built environment, community spirit, and scientific innovation come together to support the Singapore Green Plan 2030. This 3-hour hybrid (walking + fully electric bus) learning journey begins at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and concludes at a cutting-edge research institution in Toh Guan.
Designed to inspire action and deepen understanding, this route blends urban design, hospital sustainability practices, circular economy learning, and hands-on composting. Participants will experience first-hand how Singapore’s goals of energy efficiency, sustainable living, and food resilience are being realized across different sectors—from healthcare infrastructure to high-tech agriculture – all within walking distance in a community heartland..
