Some suggested experiences:
Ho Yan Hor Museum (30 mins) - The Ho Yan Hor Museum in Ipoh offers a unique blend of heritage and wellness, housed in the original shop house where the famous Ho Yan Hor herbal tea was first created in 1941. Once a trusted household remedy, this cooling tea was brewed from a secret mix of herbs to relieve heatiness and promote overall well-being. Today, the museum invites visitors to journey through the brand’s humble beginnings, discover the founder’s story of resilience and innovation, and learn about the role of traditional herbal remedies in everyday health. As part of a wellness-themed tour, it provides both cultural insight and inspiration on how age-old practices continue to support modern lifestyles.
Han Chin Pet Soo Museum (1 hr) - Han Chin Pet Soo in Ipoh is Malaysia’s first Hakka tin mining museum, housed in what was once the exclusive clubhouse of the Hakka Miners’ Club. Established in 1893, the building served as a social hub for tin miners during Ipoh’s booming tin-mining era, where members gathered for leisure, business, and even games of chance. Today, it has been carefully restored and transformed into a museum that showcases the history of tin mining, the lives of Hakka miners, and the vibrant social culture of the time, offering visitors a fascinating glimpse into Ipoh’s rich heritage.
