Tour Description

Discover Singapore’s Flavours: Chinatown Food & Culture Tour

Ready to makan like a local? Embark on a mouthwatering journey through Singapore’s iconic Chinatown on this morning food and culture tour—perfect for first-time visitors and food lovers seeking authentic local eats.

Led by an experienced, wheelchair-accessible guide, this 2-hour sensory adventure explores the vibrant flavours, stories, and sights that define Singaporean street food culture.

Your journey begins at Maxwell Food Centre, one of Singapore’s most iconic hawker centres. Kick off with a classic breakfast pairing—kaya toast with kopi or teh—and learn how to order it like a true local. Want your coffee thick and sweet? Just say “kopi gao!” Our guide will introduce you to Singlish, the unique local slang that blends English with Chinese, Malay, Tamil and more—it’s more than a language, it’s a taste of culture.

As you journey down Smith Street, snap photos of colourful murals and learn about traditional dress like the Sarong Kebaya—with an optional dress-up session available after the tour.

Pass iconic spots like the original Hawker Chan, the world’s first Michelin-starred hawker stall, and explore the bustling Trengganu and Pagoda Streets. Depending on the season, you may sample tropical fruits, roasted chestnuts, or even try a whiff of Singapore’s king of fruits—durian.

You’ll also have the chance to explore Sri Mariamman Temple, Singapore’s oldest Hindu temple, and wrap up with a delicious sweet treat—choose between a delicate traditional egg tart or a fluffy modern pandan chiffon cake from a local bakery.

Your guide will bring you back to Maxwell MRT, and point you toward highly recommended lunch options nearby—including the famous Tian Tian Chicken Rice and Hawker Chan, letting you continue your food adventure independently.

This tour is not just about eating—it’s about connecting with Singapore’s culture through its food, language, and people. Come hungry, come curious!
